Battle Crush is a free match-3 battle game that runs in your browser. There is no download or launcher required — you open the page and you are in a fight. Android and IOS versions coming soon. The board is an armoury of weapon tiles, and every match you make is a volley fired at the soldier standing across from you.

Most match-3 games are about tidying a board. This one is about what the board does to the person in front of you. Cascades multiply your damage, special tiles clear whole rows, and an Overload Charge swapped into the right weapon can turn a losing board into a winning one in a single move.

It is a puzzle game that hits back.

A hundred years before the war, the great foundry cities traded freely on steam and brass, their gears turning in step, and nobody who lived in them had ever had to hold a rifle. Then the Legion came down out of the smoke.

It is an army of conscripted machines and the people who were welded into them, and it has been taking the foundries one at a time ever since. What is left of the free companies is one gunner with a salvaged jetpack, and between him and the last unclaimed city are five territories, five commanders and forty levels.

Hero Mode is the campaign: five maps of eight levels, each tougher than the last, each ending with a commander who is genuinely hard to beat. You get three lives, you earn an extra one every three levels you clear, and every win is rated out of three stars based on how few moves you needed.

Survival strips the lives and the levels away and leaves you alone with your score until your health bar empties. It is the fastest way to practise cascades before taking them into the campaign.

Duel is multiplayer: two players, identical starting boards. Every match you make hits them, every match they make hits you, and your rank follows you into the arena, buying you health and hitting power.

The fury gauge fills as big combinations land, and filling it transforms the gunner for thirty seconds — hitting harder and taking less. From Vanguard upward that push carries him past Heroic into Superhero, and a Legend carries all three forms.

The store carries power items too, and every one can also be earned by playing. The Repair Kit heals you on the spot, the Armor Plate halves the damage you take, and the Blue Shield and Gold Shield each wrap you in a bubble that soaks incoming fire before it lands.
