How to Beat VOID — Danger Boss Guide
The hardest fight before Steel City. This is the one people write in about.
The fight
VOID is the eighth level of Danger and the hardest thing in the campaign short of the tower. He was posted to the frontier to watch the horizon, something out there watched back, and he has not spoken since.
His health bar is the second longest in the game and his damage is the highest you have faced. He does not have a trick or a phase — he simply does more of everything than the commander before him, for longer, and he does not let up.
This is the fight people write in about. If you have lost a run on map four, you are in very good company.
What actually works
Everything you learned on the previous three maps, all at once, with no margin for skipping any of it. Move economy, cascade setup, striped tiles held until they matter, Overload Charges forged on purpose. VOID is the exam.
The one technique worth adding specifically for him: chain your specials rather than firing them separately. A striped tile and an Overload Charge detonated in the same cascade multiply off each other, and against a health bar this long that multiplier is the whole difference. If you have both on the board, do not spend them in two separate moves.
Also worth saying plainly: if you are going into VOID on your last life, consider not going in at all. Replaying map four’s earlier levels to bank a life costs you fifteen minutes. Losing the run costs you the whole map.
What to bring
Bring everything you have and do not feel bad about it. Armor Plate at the start, Repair Kit when you drop below half, Fire Power saved for a moment when you have a Charge and a striped tile lined up together. This is the fight the boosters exist for.
The Gold Shield, if you have one, is the best single purchase for VOID. It soaks far more than the blue one and the difference is most obvious exactly here, where the incoming damage is at its highest.
After him
Steel City. It is the longest map, the hardest map, and it ends with GOLIATH. Do not start it on one life. Do not start it tired. It is worth an evening of its own.
